Nineteen objects reported inside ten LD

There are nineteen visitors reported passing inside ten lunar distances (LD) of Earth today. Nearest is risk-listed intruder 2017 TD6, which enters the Earth-Moon system, coming in from 1.68 LD and passing us at 0.50 LD at 1852 UTC, to end the day at 0.66 LD from Earth. Next closest are 2017 UA, outbound from 2.70 to 4.37 LD, and 2017 UJ, which reaches 2.76 LD at 0627 UTC before moving away. The other sixteen are all beyond 3.2 LD.

This report was generated at 2018 UTC with eleven discoveries, including five that appear in the active traffic table above. The other six flew by during October 5th to 15th, none coming closer than 4.76 LD: 2017 UQ1 (MPEC), 2017 UP1 (MPEC), 2017 UE1 (MPEC), 2017 UU (MPEC), 2017 UR (MPEC), and risk-listed 2017 UK1 (MPEC). Today's DOU MPEC has observation of eight objects active in the accompanying traffic tables and four departed objects: 2017 UE, 2017 TZ5, 2017 TU5, and risk-listed intruder 2017 UF, plus, from April, follow-up of NHATS target 2017 FR63, adding 28.03 days to its 9.13-day observing arc.

Note:  Again today, as yesterday, maintenance problems have caused delays in updating this Web site. Unrelated to those issues, JPL Horizons, on which our news reporting here greatly depends, is scheduled to be down for maintenance tomorrow from 1600 to 1800 UTC. That is likely to cause a delay in preparing the traffic report.
