Fourteen objects reported inside ten LD

Today fourteen planetesimals are known to be inside ten lunar distances (LD) of Earth. Nearest are newly announced 2017 WH13, entering Earth's SOI on its way inward from 3.62 to 1.84 LD, and 2017 VY13, which comes its closest to our planet this time around, reaching 2.02 LD at 2112 UTC.

        Your first neighboring asteroids traffic report was generated at 0602 UTC with the recovery of 2008 WM61 (MPEC) announced yesterday, and with ten new discoveries posted late yesterday and early today. Six of these are in the active traffic tables above (2017 WC14, 2017 WZ13, 2017 WH13, 2017 WT12) and below (2017 WS13, 2017 WV12), and four have already departed: 2017 WM13 (MPEC), 2017 WO13 (MPEC), risk-listed 2017 WJ13 (MPEC), and intruder 2017 WA14 (MPEC), which went past us at 0.25 LD and the Moon at 0.51 LD on November 21st.

When last checked at 2358 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's Near Earth Object discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had 88 objects listed. Of these, 26 were "one nighters." So far The Tracking News has counted a total of 102 listings on the NEOCP today.

An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years.
