This report was generated at 2023 UTC with first follow-up for departed 2017 XE1 in today's DOU MPEC along with continuing follow-up for approaching 2017 WZ14, inbound 2017 VT14, passing 2017 XK1, outbound 2006 XY, and three departed objects: 2017 XE, 2017 WK15, and 2017 WJ13, plus astrometry from early this month for risk-listed 2017 WE28. Today's DOU also carries announcements for four close passers with short discovery arcs: 2017 WG29, which went by at about 6.7 LD on November 20th (uncertainty +/- 1.90 hours), 2017 UL52, at about 4.0 LD on October 20th (+/- 8.5 hours), and risk-listed objects 2017 UM52, at perhaps 7.7 LD on November 1st (more than ten days +/-), and 2017 UK52, at about 6.5 LD on October 15th (+/- 24.52 hours).

Notes: Ten times the distance to the Moon (ten LD) has no astronomical importance but is a useful boundary for reporting about transient natural objects that approach our planet's gravitational sphere of influence (SOI), which has a radius of about 2.41 LD from Earth's center. This puts a focus on some of the most important and very best NEO observation work, representative of the much larger NEO discovery and tracking effort. When last checked at 2358 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's Near Earth Object discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had 54 objects listed. Of these, 21 were "one nighters." So far The Tracking News has counted a total of 74 listings on the NEOCP today.

An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years.
