This report was updated at 2234 UTC with the discovery of inbound 2019 NM5 (MPEC). Your first neighborhood flying rocks traffic report was was generated at 1940 UTC with the discoveries of approaching 2019 NN4 (MPEC), inbound 2019 NM4 (MPEC), and already departed risk-listed 2019 NL4 (MPEC), which flew by us at 6.20 LD on July 2nd. Today's DOU MPEC has the recovery of distant 2016 OF and follow-up for inbound risk-listed intruder 2019 NN3, outbound 2019 NX1, and three departed objects 2019 NQ and risk-listed 2019 NW2 and 2019 NO2, plus new observations from earlier this year for risk-listed 2019 JZ2 (1.89 days added to 3.14-day observation arc) and 2019 BX1 (6.09 days added to 19.88).



Notes: Ten times the distance to the Moon (ten LD) has no astronomical importance but is a useful boundary for reporting about transient natural objects that approach our planet's gravitational sphere of influence (SOI), which has a radius of about 2.41 LD from Earth's center. This puts a focus on some of the most important and very best NEO observation work, representative of the much larger NEO discovery and tracking effort. "Distant" is used here to describe an object that has approached Earth within ten LD since A/CC began these traffic reports twelve-plus years ago but is not currently coming so close. The MPC's NEO Confirmation Page has 47 listings

When last checked at 2330 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's Near Earth Object discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had 47 objects listed. Of these, 21 were "one nighters." So far The Tracking News has counted a total of 84 listings on the NEOCP today.

An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years.
