- DOU MPEC 2006-M08 dated "2006 June 19, 06:14 UT" reports observation of
-- 2002 GJ8 from NEAT's Haleakala telescope (2002 March 23.60-61)
-- 2006 JF42 from the Siding Spring Survey (SSS) (June 18.45-46)
-- 2006 KV86 from the Spacewatch 1.8m telescope (June 17.23-24 & 19.21-22)
-- 2006 LK from Spacewatch 1.8m (June 17.16-17 & 18.27-28)
- Note: 2002 GJ8 was discovered on 12 April 2002 by JPL's NEAT program using its Mt. Palomar telescope in California. Six days later it was added to the JPL and NEODyS risk pages, and was removed by NEODyS on 22 April and by JPL on 4 May 2002. JPL reposted this object on 20 May 2004, based on the existing data, and revised its assessment on Nov. 11th of that year. Now someone has "precovered" 2002 GJ8 in the NEAT archives from its Air Force telescope on Haleakala in Hawaii from March 23rd, adding 19.807 days to this object's previous 31.905-day observation arc. JPL's risk estimate, which has not changed much today, puts 2002 GJ8's diameter at 460 meters and has a single low-rated impact solution in 2089.
2002 GJ8, which according to NEODyS plays tag with Earth and Jupiter, was last observed on 14 May 2002 (by Powell Observatory in Kansas), and its next Earth passage will come in 2029.
Update: This precovery was accomplished by the Italian archive-hunting team of Sergio Foglia, Giuseppe Forti, and Maura Tombelli.
2359 UTC 18 June
- Note: No DOU MPEC was published today, maybe due to computer problems the MPC reported yesterday.

- NEODyS has removed 2001 UF5 as an impact risk.
- DOU MPEC 2006-L43 dated "2006 June 10, 06:13 UT" reports observation of
-- 2001 UF5 from NEAT's Mt. Palomar telescope (2001 Oct. 18.28-33, 20.42 & 24.28) and NEAT's telescope on Haleakala (2001 Oct. 20.33-34)
- Note: [corrected] 2001 UF5 was discovered by LINEAR on 20 Oct. 2001 (not the 10th, as originally reported) and was last observed by Linz Obs. on 26 Oct. of that year. Until today it had been listed by NEODyS as an impact risk with a single very low-rated impact solution in 2052. SCN's second page has been showing the next recovery opportunity as coming in Dec. 2008 for large telescopes only. By standard formula, this object's diameter is very roughly estimated at a bit more than 100 meters.
Update: A/CC has been informed that these precovery and additional observations were provided by Sergio Foglia, Giuseppe Forti, and Maura Tombelli.

- JPL has slightly revised its 2004 FU162 risk assessment from that of 24 Aug. 2004 based on the same few positions from this object's passage of "about 12900 km = 8000 miles from the center of the earth" two years ago on March 31st, the closest flyby yet observed by telescope. Two low-rated impact solutions for yesterday and today have been removed, and the next is now a year from today. Estimated at only six meters wide, this object would self-destruct probably spectacularly but harmlessly at high altitude if it ever entered Earth's atmosphere. See a news thread (best viewed with any browser but FireFox) for more about the 2004 visit.
